From Manual to Momentum: Pāmu’s leap into eInvoicing

Pāmu (Landcorp), New Zealand’s largest farming business and an early mover, is transforming its invoice processing by adopting eInvoicing. With their P2P system, Basware, already in place as a certified eInvoicing access point provider, implementation was seamless — allowing Pāmu to start quickly shifting away from processing PDF-based documents.

Pāmu - Landcorp Farming Limited The impact has been significant

Since going live in 2023, and as of May 2025, Pāmu has received over 17,900 eInvoices. This represents 15% of all invoices processed and the following benefits:

  • Faster processing (and payment): What used to take up to 48 hours for data scraping and overnight ingestion now takes as little as one hour — from supplier submission to approval and readiness for payment. Great for their small suppliers’ cash flow and their rural community, as well as supporting the Government’s desire for faster payments by government agencies.
  • Improved accuracy: Invoice data going straight into the system means fewer errors and more consistent data — and provides more certainty for accounting month end processes.
  • Greater security: Lost invoices and invoice fraud risks are virtually eliminated.
  • Operational efficiency: Less time spent on exceptions and manual corrections.

Onboarding suppliers

While supplier readiness has been challenging, Pāmu’s persistence and proactive engagement has paid off. The team continues to promote eInvoicing in supplier conversations and is now exploring outbound eInvoicing to customers.

Peter Franklin, Pāmu’s Transaction Services Manager

“Large suppliers had project teams dedicated to establishing eInvoicing. We were one of their first customers, which brought its own challenges — but this will make it easier for others who follow,” says Peter Franklin  Transaction Services Manager.

Their advice?

“Make eInvoicing part of everyday procurement conversations. The more normal it becomes, the faster adoption will grow.”
